The Military Engineers
Military engineers were first created as independent military
Units in 1855. When this arm of the Swedish military forces was at its peak, during the latter part of the 20th century, the military engineers comprised three regiments: Ing 1, Ing 2, and Ing 3. At present, only Ing 2 remains, based in Eksjö. The engineering regiments’ principal tasks lie in undertaking various field operations such as building bridges and roads, fortifications and defence installations, setting out minefields and cleaning up munitions. In Miliseum’s ”Engineers’ Hall” you can enjoy a thematic display of selected aspects of the engineering regiments’ operations both past and present.
